Today During Talking Circle

Today in the Talking Circle, we opened our circle by sharing how we were feeling today.  Pam taught us about the 3 other medicines in the Indigenous culture.

The first medicine that she showed us today was CEDAR.  She taught us that cedar can be put in tea and it is very good for us.  When it is in the fire, it crackles.  You can also put this in your bath.  It helps us be healthy

Then she showed us the medicine of SWEET GRASS  It is the hair of Mother Earth.  Its main purpose is to give us protection.  Lots of people put it in their cars or in their house to help protect them.  It is also used for smudging.  Sweet Grass is picked in June.  It also symbolizes the 7 holes in your head (ears, nose, eyes and mouth).

The third medicine that she shared with us is Sage.  Sage is also used for smudging.  Sage helps calm down your body and helps to change the mood in the room.

Then we looked at an instrument, which has little Grandfathers in it and it is made of deer skin.

She also shared another big Grandfather, which we all thought was very pretty.  It was very heavy.  We used it to close our circle today.
